You are currently viewing Video: Exceptional Landscapes In Iceland (And A Few Tips)

Here’s a video that explains why Iceland is such a popular destination these days.

It has never been cheaper to fly to Iceland, as there are often great sales to this island-country on our cheap flight deals page. Especially if you can fly out of Toronto or Montreal, where we even see flights under $200 roundtrip thanks to ultra low-cost carriers.

Most people go to Iceland to enjoy the nature there. We were lucky enough to have a half-day to drive around the country this year, and the little part we saw driving out of Reykjavík is wonderful.

Check out this video that will show you why people love it, and check out our tips below.

Even though flights are cheaper than ever, don’t be fooled into thinking this will be an affordable destination. It really isn’t. Cost of living on the island is very expensive, so you’re better off having a short stopover for a few days on the way to Europe. For example, flying to Eastern Europe might cost you $200 or $300 more in terms of airfare, but you’ll save much more than that within a couple of days.

Pro tip to save money in Iceland: avoid restaurants. Food is much more affordable in grocery stores and I know some even bring their own meals to some extent. A few locals told us that not many Iceland residents eat out in restaurants themselves, it is apparently very expensive.
