You are currently viewing Flash Sale Tomorrow: Asia For $499 Roundtrip (Thailand, India, China)

If you want to travel to Asia (almost anywhere in Asia), tomorrow’s flash sale is definitely the best time to buy your plane ticket.

Usually, we don’t know about deals in advance. The only exception is Air China‘s flash sale that often offers great deals to various cities in China for $499 or $599 roundtrip.

That’s really cheap, as many of these flights regularly sell for $1,200 (or even much more).

It starts tomorrow and we’ll obviously be here to spot all the discounted dates for you on our flight deals page. Just get ready to book, as the best ones will be gone quickly (as is always the case with flight deals).

Here are the destinations that will be on sale for $499 roundtrip from Vancouver :

  • Bangkok, Thailand
  • Mumbai, India
  • Guangzhou, China

Thailand is incredible (and a great way to go to anywhere else in Southeast Asia, see below), India is also such a unique destination and finally I’ve been to Guangzhou and it’s very nice to discover a less “internationalized” Chinese city (plus you can go to Hong Kong by train very easily, and Hong Kong is amazing).

We can never know in advance if there will be a lot of availability… or very little. We’ll see tomorrow.

What we do know is that the dates on sale will be within this range:

  • August 27 to December 4
  • January 7 to January 31
  • February 4 to April 30
  • Blackout dates for outbound flights: October 5 to 15
  • Blackout dates for inbound flights: January 26 to February 7
  • Blackout dates for both flights: January 1 to 14 and February 7 to 20

Flying from Vancouver to Asia for $499 is pretty much as good a deal as you can find.

And more importantly, given how cheap flights are in Southeast Asia, you can use Bangkok as a destination, and then buy a cheap roundtrip separately to go to almost any city in Southeast Asia for really cheap.

It’s what we call our multi-ticket itinerary trick. We’ll give you examples of destinations and then how it works:

From Bangkok (BKK or DMK):

  • Krabi, Thailand: $547 ($499 + $48)
  • Chiang Mai, Thailand: $543 ($499 + $44)
  • Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam: $608 ($499 + $109)
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: $597 ($499 + $98)
  • Siem Reap, Cambodia: $612 ($499 + $113)
  • Mandalay, Burma: $623 ($499 + $124)
  • Vientiane, Laos: $626 ($499 + $127)
  • Manila, Philippines: $703 ($499 + $204)
  • Phuket, Thailand: $555 ($499 + $56)
  • Jakarta, Indonesia: $706 ($499 + $207)
  • Darwin, Australia: $960 ($499 + $461)
  • Perth, Australia: $972 ($499 + $473)

Those are obviously only example prices found between the two cities for dates within the sale period, you’ll have to be flexible tomorrow to find the lowest prices. Here’s how to do it.

First, you find a date combo to Bangkok that is on sale. The more flexible you are, the more chance you have of finding corresponding flights at a low price.

Then you search for flights from Bangkok to your desired destination by playing around with the dates and searching on our advanced search tool to find the dates with the best price! Just be sure to read the 3 important rules at the end of our article about multi-ticket itineraries.

Other notes:

  • Many countries in that area are among the cheapest destinations to travel to in the world, so you won’t need to spend a fortune on your trip once you’re there, as long as you make budget-travel choices
  • Air China is a full-service carrier and these deals include bags and meals
  • I’ve been on 8 flights with Air China, the experience was great
  • There’s always a layover in Beijing, I recommend choosing the longest one as the city offers a free transit-visa that allows you to explore the city (a few hours exploring a new city is always better than 0 hours exploring a new city)
  • There’s a decent chance you’ll be able to do an open-jaw for the same price, that is flying into Bangkok and flying out of Guangzhou for example (you’ll then need to buy an extra flight, but they’re cheap and you’ll get to see two destinations)

That’s all for today, don’t miss the deal dates tomorrow morning on our flight deals page.

Bottom Line

Don’t miss this sale tomorrow morning, and share with your travel buddies using the buttons below (mobile) or on the side (desktop).

    Hey Andrew,

    Thanks for the blog post.

In the future, I would like to do 2-3 (or even 7) months (min) in Asia.

Do these flights accommodate such options?

Eg Fly to BKK then 30 in Thailand, 30 days in Philippines, 30 days in Bali, then back to Thailand?

    1. Andrew D'Amours

Hi James, unfortunately these sales explicitly limit the length of the stay to 3 months, so that would be the longest you could find!
